I’m impressed that you hauled your fat ass up Bear Chutes to Big Money and even more impressed that you rode down.

Dude – we should go riding!

Glad to hear that Ruby is doing well!

I have two cats, Barnie and Mousie, and the local vet has taken great care of them.

Being outdoor/indoor cats they regularly have wounds from various encounters and the local vet has on several occasions saved them from possible death.

We are lucky to have a vet and your comments could bear a negative consequence for us all.

Love everyone as you love your Ruby!

In the spring when the valley turns green, the rivers are flowing and the town is empty.

The Free Press has an editorial this week on a BC school “report card” and Fernie Secondary School ranks 235 out of 279. Elkford and Sparwood ranked more respectfully at 33 and 80.

The report is only as relivant as the criteria thet were used to create it. However it probably is an indication of what is fueling an intelegent program option for parents in Fernie.

I am not a glider however friends of mine are. Generally they comment that the winds are better for handgliding however they do parapent from the Microwave tower launch, BEar Chutes and Burton Lake in Elko.

If you want to contact them let me know!

    Hey there,

Just to answer a couple of your questions…you have access to two restaurants on the hill (Kelsey’s, The Wood) plus the Griz Bar for apres ski, but for going out you’ll definitely want to head downtown.

On the hill there is a liquor/small grocery store but to do a good shop you’ll need to come downtown. However the prices at the ski hill liquor store are actually pretty good.

Some of the bars downtown have had a facelift and look really good. To get downtown, you’ll need to take either a taxi or possibly a free shuttle which people are working on right now (they had one last year).

When you say booking a shuttle, if you’re refering to an airport shuttle try Mountain Perks — http://www.mountainperks.ca. Otherwise you’ll need to try Greyhound – not sure again what you mean by shuttle. There isn’t really a local shuttle bus though you could try Kootenay Taxi.

If you’re here for five days you can try all of Fernie’s bars! The Fernie, The Northern, The Central, The Royal, The Eldorado and The Pub.

    Cheers

Depends what you mean by “midway”.
Usually the resort hires more people than they need and do some shuffling January-ish.
There’s no guarantee that you’ll get hired as a liftee but there will likely be an opening for dishwasher, other service, etc somewhere in town.
    Good luck!

Cedar Ridge is awesome when it’s full. It gets tracked out fast but if you’re there early it’s great. Parts of Snake Ridge are also gladed and v. nice.

Riding at the resort is great – fast – fun – nice tricks and there are lots more shore rides scattered about town. You’ll Locals can point you in the right direction. Think big!
