Fernie Alpine Resort is expanding its summer offerings for 2026 with more lift-access days, new and rebuilt mountain bike trails, family activities and a full schedule of summer events.
The season begins with a Preview Weekend on June 20 and 21, followed by daily summer operations starting Thursday, June 25.
The Elk Chair will operate daily from June 25 through September 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended evening hours until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Timber Chair will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends and the statutory holidays of July 1, August 3 and September 7. The additional holiday operations provide more opportunities for mountain biking, hiking and sightseeing in the upper mountain terrain.
New Fernie Bike Park Trails for 2026
A new blue-rated mountain bike trail named Yellowjacket will open this summer, replacing the former Honeybee trail.
The new trail is designed to offer a fun, flowing ride suited to intermediate mountain bikers.
Top Gun, one of the Fernie Bike Park’s most popular trails, has also undergone a major rebuild. The updated trail will provide a smoother, more flow-focused riding experience while retaining its place as one of the mountain’s signature descents.
Hiking, Sightseeing and Family Activities
Fernie Alpine Resort’s summer operations extend beyond mountain biking, with lift-accessed hiking and sightseeing available throughout the season.
Visitors can learn about the region’s geology, plants and wildlife at Nature Bob’s Interpretive Centre. Recent improvements to the centre are intended to create a more engaging and educational experience.
Families can also visit the Elk Grove Forest Playground, a shaded play area located near the base of the mountain.
Summer Mountain Bike Racing Returns
The SCOTT Downhill Mountain Bike Race Series returns with weekly racing for a range of abilities.
Novice races will be held on Tuesday evenings, while intermediate and advanced riders will compete on Thursdays.
The Fernie Dunbar Summer Series downhill event returns from July 10 to 12, bringing BC Cup and Canada Cup racing to Fernie Alpine Resort. The competition will feature some of Canada’s leading downhill racers and provide spectators with a close-up look at high-level mountain bike racing.
The Timber Chair will be closed to the public on July 11 and 12 during the downhill race.
Music on the Mountain
Live music will also return to Lost Boys Café on Saturdays throughout the summer.
Music on the Mountain combines lift-accessed sightseeing, food and live entertainment at the mountaintop café.
With expanded lift operations, trail improvements, weekly racing, family attractions and summer events, Fernie Alpine Resort is preparing for another busy season on the mountain.
Daily summer operations run from June 25 to September 7, 2026.
