The Fernie Legion will celebrate its 100th anniversary on Saturday, September 5, with a full day of live music, food, games and community fun.

Everyone is invited to help mark this major milestone and enjoy a day of great company at Royal Canadian Legion Branch #36.

The celebration will take place beginning at 1 p.m., with live music starting at approximately 3 p.m.

The community event will feature performances by Maddisun, Will & Adam and Jack’s Attic, along with a $2 barbecue, food trucks, games and a children’s activity tent.

A time capsule will also be buried at the Fernie Courthouse to commemorate the milestone.

Additional anniversary highlights include a special Legion flag flying at Fernie City Hall from August 24 through September 13 and the new veterans’ crosswalk created jointly by the Fernie Legion and the City of Fernie.
