Ella Fuller selected for World Junior Trials is the latest accomplishment in an impressive rise through Canadian Nordic skiing for the Fernie Nordic Racers.

Cross Country BC has announced its team for the December 15–21 World Junior/U23 Championship Trials and National U18 B-Tour Trials in Gatineau, Quebec, with Fuller earning a spot on the trip. Cross Country BC lists the Gatineau World Junior/U23 trials as a BC Ski Team event.

Fuller first made Fernie Nordic history at the 2025 Canadian National Championships in Canmore, becoming the first Fernie Nordic Society athlete to win a Canadian national championship. She won the U16 interval-start skate race and followed that performance with a second national title in the classic sprint.

Her racing continued to accelerate in 2026. At the World Junior/U23 Championship Trials, Fuller won the U20 women’s 10 km classic race, helping earn her selection to represent Canada at the World Junior Championships.

At the 2026 World Junior Championships, Fuller finished 21st in the junior women’s 10 km classic, competing against the best young Nordic racers in the world.

Her accomplishments are especially meaningful for Fernie Nordic because Fuller has grown through the local race program while also giving back to it. Following her national championship wins, Fernie Nordic Society President Megan Lohmann highlighted Fuller’s contribution as a coach with the club’s Skills Development Program and the support of her family and the wider Fernie Nordic community.

From becoming Fernie Nordic’s first Canadian national champion to racing at the World Juniors, Fuller continues to raise the bar for Nordic skiing in Fernie.
