The powder snow that Fernie folk are accustomed to is finally arriving! Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Fernie – Fernie could get 15-25cm Tuesday afternoon through early Wednesday morning.
An approaching Pacific frontal system will track inland thursday and stall across the southern interior tonight. Heavy snow will begin this evening before changing to rain at lower elevations beginning Friday morning.

Effective at noon Pacific time on Monday, July 29, 2019, Category 2 open burning will be prohibited throughout the Southeast Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, including the Rocky Mountain Natural Resource District, the Selkirk Natural Resource District, the Elk Valley and South Country.
