    :P

If he was in town here, you’d know about it (he’d be playing 7 different bars, 7 nights a week). He’s a trooper, but perhaps he’s no longer here because he spred himself too thin.

If I hear him play “Steal My Kisses” one more time I’m going to lose it…

i’ll play pretty much anything. i’ve got an indie-punk band here in ontario but have played in a classic rock cover band and a jazz-funk jam band. last night i was thinking it would be funny to put together a fake-country band, like ween or something. i just want to play, we could come up with the concept later.[/quote:427qsgfj]

Hey Browntown…are you still looking to jam? Let me know what you’re up too…

dont get me wrong ,i love the attention and younger guys (usually 10 years younger ) are a lot of fun and alot of them are pretty together but why? when there are so many pretty young girls here in fernie ???[/quote:dm2zoufm]

    Dear Abby,

I was hoping you could help me. I call myself ‘Sexymommy’ and, although I’m a mother of four (the youngest being two months old), I like to spend my thursday, friday, and saturday nights gettin’ tanked at the bar. The thing I love most is to wear the tightest pair of jeans imaginable, and to shake my T&A on the dance floor to some good ol’ fashion gangter rap. It’s hard to keep my chest inside my tube-top, but that completely different problem…

My question is: Why do young men keeping hitting on me? If you can unlock this age-old riddle that has plagued us for centuries, please let me know…

    Love,
    Sexymommy

Note: As for the “pretty young girls”, let me know where they’re hiding? Cause I sure as hell I haven’t seen any…at least any that are single…

Fernie is full of “special” people. It’s up to you to decide which connotation best suites your situation. I can’t say that I’ve experienced anything ‘on the river’ as I leave the activity to those who enjoy it. I would assume that the same people slashing tires are the same individuals (or thier kids) who are picking fights in bars for absolutely NO reason. I have experienced this little ‘pleasure’ on more than one occasion and, as being a very passive person, this really drives me nuts…

    …no, I wasn’t looking at your baby’s mama…

What kind of music do you want to play? I know that’s a pretty ridiculous question, but it means a lot to some people. A buddy and I have are looking for some people to jam with. We had a great thing going on last summer, but just when we were about to ‘step into the light’, two of the four band members moved away!!! My friend and I both play guitar, but are looking to buy a drum kit and some other gear. I’ve played guitar, bass, drums, spoons, knuckles, typewriters, bottles ‘n cans, and pots ‘n pans…

    Sounds good…

I’ve been busy over the last few days sending e-mails to various management groups and booking agencies to see what sort of options we have. No news yet to report, but I’m sure I’ll be hearing from them shortly.

In other news, it’s cold outside…HAHA

That’s a great reply. It’s true…you don’t want to mess with some of the Fernie progeny. I’ve heard quite a few stories, and it never ceases to amaze me what boredom can breed…

It also never ceases to amaze me that bars charge $20 to $25 for admittance on New Year’s Eve. I could understand if they had SOMETHING to back it; however, listening to some hack-job, no name hippy band, or a bunch of blowhards playing the same old covers, along with a complimentary glass of cheap sparkling wine isn’t my idea of a celebration. I think I should just puke now and get it over with…

Having absolutely no idea of what bars are offering this time around (as I’ve already come to the conclusion that I don’t care) I am merely speaking from experience over the last four years.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL…

    It had to happen…

…all this talk about cell phones (mobiles) and I’ve gone a lost mine! After a long and crystal-clear coversation with a friend back east while cleaning the fresh powder off my car, my phone must have slipped from my pocket and into the snowy abyss last night. I call and call, and nobody answers. I perk my head up, every now than then to listen for the faint call of my ringtone. I haven’t been able to find it.

Called Rogers customer service tonight to put a hold on the phone and got through within seconds. Very pleasant rep too…

I purchased my (AWOL) phone in Cranbrook two years ago and have used it all over Fernie and the Ski Hill. Never was the reception compromised, and the signal strength was at peak or one bar less than peak each and everytime that I used it. It could have just been this particular phone, as I opted for the cheaper Nokia “tank” (as I have had three other Nokia models in the past and have been extremely pleased). No need to take pictures of a cloud and send them half-way to Istanbul for this guy…

When I first moved to Fernie I did have an account with Telus, after purchasing one of those old school Startac models which were, undoubtedly, the first ever flip-phone (Analog display and everything). I wasn’t too impressed with the service or the phone and ended up cancelling the contract. I swtiching back to Rogers when I heard that they were moving into the area. I even gave that phone away for free; however, I was willing to pay someone to take it off my hands (that’s how much I disliked it).

From that moment on I have been with Rogers, without incident.

If I cannot find my phone I will definately buy another Nokia, because they can take a beating. I will also stay with Rogers. I took this (unfortunate) opportunity to compare the two companies and what kind of plans they offer, and for what I needed and was subscribing for with Rogers, it’s little more expensive with Telus ($30 versus $50). This makes me feel a little better, even though I’m lost without my phone…

    Oh, phoney…phone homey…

Sounds to me like your in bed with Telus…How much are they paying you? I’ll double it? Or then again, maybe I should save my money to buy a new sense of humour…

I didn’t know that this was a competition…I was merely stating MY experience, and as I’ve had ZERO problems in two years using my cellphone IN FERNIE (full reception everywhere I go) and crystal-clear reception, even with international calls. I’ve had a Telus account prior to Rogers moving into the valley, and was not nearly as happy. Their customer service is, and has been publicly reported, as lack-lustre at best.

Also, if you open up an account with Rogers, the company will provide you with complimentary bi-weekly laundry and housekeeping service, as well as a free Porsche. How’s that for competition…

I’ve been a Rogers subscriber all over Canada, and I have never had a signal as strong as I have in Fernie. Absolutely no problems. It’s a GSM network though, and there is a dead zone between Fernie and Cranbrook, and Crowsnest Pass and Calgary (along highway 22). But then again, you should talk while you drive
