    Too funny!
( Not funny that you had to deal with this crap , but funny the kid begged for a beating and got one!)
Where can we get a clip of the video???
Better yet, post a still picture of his face on this forum so we know that if we ever see the kid , to just avoid any and all communication with him altogether!

    Oh,
    And Canatedian!
Are you saying that there is nightlife to speak of at Smitty’s that I don’t know about?
I thought that place was like every other Smitty’s in the country. ( just another restaurant to get pancakes and all day breakfast!)

I guess you work at the Pub don’t you Flyingecko?
The thursday jam at the Royal has been a fixture for the whole year that I have lived in Fernie. Are you trying to say that something has changed over the last 2 weeks that I haven’t been in town or are you just promoting the Pub? ( not that theres anything wrong with that. )
There are more than enough people in town over the winter to make both places rock!

Live Music happens downtown with and without regularity.
Locals usually fill the Royal on thursday night for Jam night. There are also jams at the Central on Teusday, and at Eschwigs on Saturday (unless they have a feature band playing). The Fernie sometimes has a feature band playing as do the Pub at the park place lodge, The Royal, and The Central. It might be hard to find out what features are playing in town until you actually get here and see posters on windows of the Liquor store beside Overwaitea foods grocery store, and also posted in the bars themselves.
The super 8 is between town and the ski hill. Its closer to downtown and is about a 10-15 minute walk.

According to the FAR website in the events list there are often bands playing on the weekend at the Griz bar on the hill.

I have to agree with you Griz Boy about the groomers. I have never felt groomers that were so soft underfoot. Maybe that was due to the fact that it was early season and the snow was not packed down hard. If the only weight to pass over them was with the cats then maybe thats why. It was my first opening day anywhere so I have to assume thats why the groomers were the way they were. But Im not a groomer run kinda guy so I won’t be trying to analyse them anymore.

    Yippeeekaiyay for the mogul smoker!
Unfortunately I will not be in town, but $15 bucks doesn’t sound bad for live bands, complimentry beer and mogul juice, and a good party.
Hope the effort from the organisers pays off and its a real hit.

Opening day wasn’t bad, but not great either.
At least both sides of the mountain were open this year.
General consensus seems to be that it was a day for the boarders. The untouched snow was variably wind crusted. Skiers found themselves having 1 turn in nice soft stuf and then riding up onto wind crust on the next , only to break through at times unpredictably. If your legs were in great shape you could have done some hard fast tailride freeriding, but I had to be cautious and stop often due to lack of endurance!
    Need another dump!

Renting skis would not be a bad idea . The wider skiis will be a lot more fun and easier on the legs if you are not used to powder and chopped up powder. It might not be a bad idea to bring your own too just in case there are several days without a dump of new snow and the groomers become prevalent. Boots, There are many types out there, I would suggest buying them out here. Rossignol make many styles of boots so its tough to just say ?Ç‚Äú yes, this brand is for you”. All of the ski shops in town have great boot fitting staff and can find you the right boot for your aspirations.
Lift tickets? I have never seen discounted tickets purchased off the resort itself like the situation that is available in Banff. Someone may correct me on that! Multi day tickets purchased on the hill offer better deals than the single day rate. However, for flexibility, I would investigate in a ?Ç‚ÄúLouise card?Ç‚Äù . It sounds like it is for Lake Louise but the Owner of Fernie Alpine Resort is the same owner of Lake Louise, Kimberly, and Nakiska, so the deal works at all of those places. It gives you something like your 1st, 4th, and 7th day free as well as about $6 off all other days. The card cost is about the price of a single day lift ticket!. From what I see, this is the best way to go.
For info check out the seasons passes area at skifernie.com. or at http://www.louisecard.com, and do so before mid December as Louise cards are only on sale until around Christmas!

The girls bums shouldn`t get too sore if you are falling down in Powder. It will be your arms that get sore getting yourself back up.
Enjoy the visit . With the recent snow we have had, everybody is stoked!

Only your Landlord can give you the key If he/she already has a box on the street. If He does not have one or does not want to give it to you, then you will have to go to the post office and get a box there. I don’t know what ID you need if any to get a P.O. box.

Rogers is the only provider that works with Sim cards in their phones!
I moved to Fernie last year and kept my Rogers service! As I have said before , I don’t seem to notice any coverage problems in Fernie! Get set up in Calgary though because there is no Rogers wireless store in Fernie itself. Maybe in Cranbrook but I have never been to it so Im not sure!
