By Keith Liggett
the click imperceptible
and the key arcs
leaving a ring
silently in the water below
our ringless hands entwined
and later
years later
remembering the click
no longer imperceptible
the pan in a bear trap
unseen unaware
inescapable
now
one leg
still chained
scribing a circle
bare dirt
devoid of vegetation
scrubbed clean of life
