It just became even more convenient for visitors staying on the mountain to visit Fernie’s beautiful Historic Downtown area. This month, the all-new free evening shuttle service was launched in Fernie, and many have already taken advantage of it.
“Although we have only been up and running for about 10 days, we are really starting to see the free shuttle work. The other night the bus came into town almost completely full,” indicates Scott Gilmet, Director of Marketing and Sales for IGS Group of Companies and one of the coordinators of the Shuttle Initiative.
The Free Evening Shuttle initiative was launched by a group of Fernie businesses interested in attracting more visitors to Fernie’s downtown for its shopping, dining and entertainment. The shuttle service is operated nightly by Kootenay Taxi during the ski season.
“As soon as visitors learn that there is a convenient, free shuttle running to town at night, they are thrilled and want to use it. From both an economic and customer service perspective, this is an important step in the right direction for Fernie,” adds Gilmet.
