100 Women Who Care Fernie returns with its next Giving Event this November, bringing women from across the Elk Valley together to raise funds for local organizations.
The concept behind 100 Women Who Care Fernie is simple: each member contributes $100 and can nominate a local cause. Six nominations are drawn at random in advance, with representatives given a few minutes to present their cause at the Giving Event.
Members then vote, and the two causes receiving the most votes share the funds raised that evening.
Since launching in 2020, 100 Women Who Care Fernie has raised more than $100,000 for organizations serving Fernie and the Elk Valley.
At the group’s 11th Giving Event in November 2025, members raised $10,000, which was shared between the Elk Valley Christmas Cheer Committee and Fernie Women’s Resource Centre.
Previous recipients have included Fernie Food Security Society, Triangle Women’s Institute, Fernie Sibshops Siblings Support Society, Cycling Without Age, Elk Valley Suicide Task Force, Elk Valley Hospice and Fernie Adaptive Snowsports.
“One hundred dollars on its own is a nice gift. One hundred women giving together is a game changer for a small organization,” said Cindy Pearson, founding organizing committee member. “It’s one evening out with friends, and the impact lasts all year.”
New members are always welcome, with women from across the Elk Valley encouraged to participate, nominate a local cause and help decide where the funds raised will go.
