Fernie Tourism Survey

The Fernie Tourism Survey is now open, giving residents and second homeowners an opportunity to share their views on tourism and its future in the community.

Tourism Fernie is inviting residents to participate in its Resident Sentiment Survey from October 1 to 31, 2026. The brief, anonymous survey is being conducted in partnership with Kootenay Rockies Tourism and asks locals to identify tourism opportunities, priorities, investments and challenges.

The initiative is part of Tourism Fernie’s community-first approach and is intended to provide local feedback that can help inform future strategic planning.

The last major community engagement about tourism took place during development of the 2020 Tourism Master Plan.

The new survey asks residents about a range of tourism issues, including what they see as the community’s top opportunities and potential investments, as well as its biggest tourism-related challenges.

The results will help Tourism Fernie shape strategies intended to benefit both visitors and people who call Fernie home.

“Tourism has been a part of Fernie’s economy for over 100 years,” said Jikke Gyorki, Executive Officer at Tourism Fernie Society. “This survey is a chance for residents to tell us how they feel about tourism. To support the engagement, we have also included an ‘About Tourism’ information sheet detailing what tourism is, how the funds come in and circulate within a community, local Fernie numbers and more.”

Tourism Fernie says the feedback will help inform decisions aimed at supporting a thriving tourism economy that remains aligned with the community.

The online survey is open October 1–31 and takes only a few minutes to complete.

Hard copies can be picked up and returned to the Fernie Visitor Centre, 102 Commerce Road, or requested by emailing survey@tourismfernie.com.
