Ghostrider News November 20/07

Last Week

The Ghostriders and Spokane split last weekend with the Riders losing 3-2 here at home on Friday and winning 4-3 in overtime on Saturday in Spokane….. Devan Hartigan was in net for both games….. Every week we seem to be talking about #20 Jordan Reid in this column and this week is no exception, Reid scored the first goal Friday then scored a pair including the overtime winner on Saturday and is now the Ghostriders top scorer with 31 points…… #26 Richard Small has been flying since coming to the Riders 12 games ago and he continued his assault on “K” goalies again last weekend scoring another two goals and he now has 9 goals and 7 assists … To no ones surprise # 15 Dave McIvor 29pts and #17 Scott Traverse 26 pts. are right behind Reid in team scoring and all five of these guys are potential game breakers…..The top scoring defenseman are Cody Reinbold with 12 pts, and Joe Deluca with 8 pts…. Both these guys play in the trenches every night and make the Ghostriders harder to play against, nice to see them get on the score sheet once in a while….With 97 PIM 19 year old forward Scott Cisco is another guy who doesn’t play well with others.

The Ghostriders play Castlegar on Friday and Creston on Saturday Gametime is 7:30.

The Ghostriders have played Castlegar two times this year in Castlegar and lost 4-2 September 28 and won 2-1 November 10…. The Riders have played in Creston twice and have lost both times, 6-0 September 25 and 4-1 November 13…..Castlegar is not in Fernie’s division but Creston is and with 33 points they are one point ahead of the Ghostriders…. but Fernie has a game in hand….

Odds n’ Ends

Castlegar has two former Ghostriders in the lineup, Brent Lucente was in Fernie for a cup of coffee but wanted out and Cody Steel was here in 2005-06 but was traded and ended up in Invermere ….Steel has scored a ton of points since leaving Fernie so this was not a steal of a deal and one the Riders regret… Eric Rockney is the Rebels top scorer with 36 pts, Steel has 33….. Creston is a division rival and are in first place so the Ghostriders have something to prove Saturday. The Thundercat top scorers are Cole Yurowski 28, Brett Krokosh 28 and Travis Ludwar 26…. Ghostriders injury list … Derek Bishop is out and was listed as indefinite last week… Travis Harrad, Kyle Chartrand, and Robbie Shaw are day to day…. It is more than likely that Rider fans will get a look at Joey McEwan this weekend, he is the older brother of 16 year old Josh McEwan…. When the Riders were in Spokane last week the ice started breaking off in big chunks, luckily in Spokane there is another rink in the same building so the delay was only a few minutes…. Ghostrider President Phil Iddon says he sent the Spokane Braves a can of red paint so they can repaint the goal posts after the Ghostriders wore off all the paint last Saturday night.
