I moved to Fernie last year and I kept my Rogers phone after much deliberation. The only places that I have bad coverage is inside “the Fernie” pub and on the road to Calgary between Crowsnest pass and Longview. I really haven’t had much to complain about!

Maybe its because older women who are single give off vibes that show they really are SINGLE!.
Yes there are some pretty young girls here in fernie but they are usually either too young, or they have 2 boyfriends already!

I had an epic pow day at Golden’s “Kicking Horse” on Friday, it was raining in town but because of the high alpine elevation in the bowls , they got wet snow. But…. Golden is forcasting more rain over the next few days with temps of plus 6. I cant see the high alpine not getting hit with some rain. It will be something to watch closely.
Sunshine Village also has some terrain at the same elev. 7000′-8000′. they got wet snow instead of rain too and they are not forecasted to get any more rain in this system! so they could come out of this with the best conditions.
Both are about 4-5 hrs drive north from Fernie

If you go to the “sevices” tab on the Fernie.com website and then click on sporting goods it will show you links to 4 of the local stoes websites!
There are also others in town too!
I go to “The Guides Hut”. Their website is still under construction. And If I am not mistaken I think they are geared more towards skiing equipment! ( at least thats all my narrow mind could see when I was buying my skiis for this year!) though apart from the plank/s themselves, lots of the accessory equipment is interchangeable. It is right downtown on 2nd ave near Overwaitea foods grocery store!

    Good!
    I like cold!
It keeps the crowds at home and leaves more freshies for me!
I spend my time away from Fernie in the Arctic so I am used to the cold.
    Its minus 41 here today!

I know a wicked blues guitarist from Calgary who I met in Yellowknife of all places! I will talk to him and to some bar owners to see if I cant get a gig set up for him and his band. He plays steevie Ray Vaughn blues tunes better than Steevie played them himself

    Here here!
As a former resident of southern Ontario, I was spoiled with the number of great acts that I saw in the Bar scene in Toronto and even the surrounding Burbs.
Ill pay 10$-15$ to get a good view and feel of some good licks!
    Always have, always will!

I think your best bet is to get one in Calgary!
Im not sure if you can get one at the airport or not but there definitely is no Rogers kiosk or outlet in Fernie. Not sure about Cranbrook either

    Tell me about it!
I have been calling them a lot as I have been thinking of switching to their network. Their voicejail system is horrible!
I had to scream at it today!
I am thinking twice that for sure!

The only Canadian providers that operate on a GSM / GPRS network that uses SIM cards are Rogers Wireless and Fido. Fido is now owned by Rogers!. Fido is only a viable option if you plan to spend most of your time in a major city. So really, Rogers is your only option! One thing you will have to cosider is wheather your Service Provider in the UK has locked your phone so that it only works on their network no matter who puts a SIM card in there.
I went to Australia last year and intended to do the same thing but Rogers had locked the phone out from accepting any non-Rogers SIM cards. the best way to unlock your phone without paying an arm and a leg is to go to a search engine like Google and type ” unlock GSM “. you will find an outfit that can unlock your phone for about $20-$40.
However, it seems as though the general consensus of this thread is that Telus has better coverage in and around Fernie and that would require you to buy a phone from them!
    Hope this helps!
