It must be chlorine either as a liquid or hypochlorite. Chloramines are fromed when chlorine reacts with ammonia in the water. Essentially, the chlorine has to be strong enough to oxidize the ammonia, reach the breakpoint and leave a free chlorine residual thus ensuring proper disinfection.

The vets in the surrounding areas (Cranbrook, Crowsnest Pass, Eureka) are wonderful, as is Diane Skoberg who comes to Fernie very two weeks. However, I would like to add that it would be amazing to have a great vet in town! Particularly for emergencies, and also to not have to drive 2hrs+ for the more minor ailments. You would be very welcome!!!

I try not to shop at Extra Foods, even though it is closer to my house than Overwaitea. I also find there are never enough tills open, although as I only ever go there if I need something that Overwaitea doesn’t have, I often go to the customer service desk and they will ring through my one or two items. The self-bagging of groceries is not an issue for me because as I mentioned, I rarely am buying more than one or two things. I shop at Overwaitea because I find the staff friendlier, happy to help if I have a question, plus I like the fact that it is a smaller store. Extra Foods just makes me irritated so I really just try to avoid going there.

agreed! Barkside Pets sell biodegradable poo bags, environmentally friendly and less bulky than a plastic shopping bag! there are no excuses to not pick up your dog’s poo from the trail!

avalanche danger due to the heavy wet snow was incredibly high today. One ripped from the top across the Deer Trail. Crowns were 2-3m, and the width of some were 200m. I wouldn’t want to be caught in an avalanche because they opened up terrain to please the holiday-makers. Safety first.
I did hear a rumour though that people who paid for the first tracks program were up skiing the Bear at 8am, and season pass holders (who normally get this privilege on the last Sunday of the month) were not allowed as it wasn’t safe. That definitely seems hypocritical, either it is or isn’t safe, and people can go up or they can’t.

It seems perfectly reasonable for the kind of place it is…..4 people living there would be around $550/month. Not greedy at all. There are still plenty of miners shacks downtown. Fernie is alive and kicking, hello and welcome!
