Aptly named after the Elk Valley, Wapiti is Fernie’s festival. Returning for its 4th season, the weekend is set to rock with a solid Canadian Indie line-up in an unbeatable setting. It is located in the Annex Park beside the Elk River.

The line-up includes July Talk, Zeus, The Strumbrellas, Good for Grapes, Fast Romantics, JP Hoe, Greg Drummond, Jordan Klassen and more. Don’t miss the free pre show on Thursday at the Arts Station featuring Wil and Shred Kelly at the Northern on Friday.

The festival dates are Friday August 8th and Saturday August 9th. Gates open at 6pm Friday (music starts at 7pm) and 12pm on Saturday (music starts at 1pm). The event will finish at 11pm both days. There will be a beer garden serving up local Fernie beers and wine and food vendors will be on site. The event is family friendly and chairs are allowed. Dogs, alcohol and glass, however, are not permitted.

Weekend passes and single day tickets are still available online and at Le Grand Fromage (672 2nd Ave). All online tickets are Will Call and are picked up at the gate with a photo ID (for proof of purchase). Volunteers are also still needed!

Parking is limited, however, there is a free bike check and the festival is a short walk from town. Don’t miss the many after parties around town.
