Held beside the river in Wardner, about halfway between Fernie and Cranbrook, the festival is designed as a creative weekend gathering for all ages. Alongside live music, a beverage garden, food trucks and artisan vendors, Fun Field Festival adds a strong focus on interactive art, workshops, local culture and community connection.
This year’s festival features 12 bands from across the region and beyond, with music ranging from bluegrass and country to alternative rock, vintage soul, jump blues, electronic beats and indie folk. Friday highlights emerging East Kootenay talent on First Stage Friday, Saturday brings a full day of music and dancing, and Sunday shifts into a slower pace with yoga, sound healing, tarot readings, ecstatic dance, massage offerings and more.
Live art is a major part of the weekend, with sand sculpting, wood carving installations, a live paint-by-numbers mural, an interactive crowd portrait, hula hoop and dance workshops, gymnastics and creative arts exhibitions. Festivalgoers can also take part in local Métis teachings, including beading and Mokrock painting.
Families will find kids’ activities included with admission, including pony rides, games, sing-alongs, crafts and interactive art experiences. Lawn games, food vendors, the artisan market and creative surprises throughout the field round out the weekend.
One of the things that makes Fun Field Festival unique is its intentionally intimate size. The smaller format creates a setting where artists can mingle with attendees, kids have room to play, and visitors can settle into the weekend rather than rush through it.
Created by local event veterans Steph Fleming and Julie Comete, Fun Field Festival grew from a shared goal of building something joyful, sustainable and community-minded for the Elk Valley and South Country.
Day tickets, weekend passes and camping options are available now. Tourism Cranbrook lists Fun Field Festival 2026 at Wardner Community Park from July 3 at 4 p.m. to July 5 at 2 p.m., with tickets ranging from day passes to full weekend options.
