Fernie events receive $30,000 in festival funding this year, supporting the 2026 Elk Valley Pride Festival and the Wednesday Social summer concert series.
The Fernie Pride Society will receive $15,000 for the Elk Valley Pride Festival, while the Fernie and District Arts Council will receive $15,000 for Wednesday Social.
The two Fernie events are among 20 music, arts and cultural festivals receiving more than $230,000 through the Basin Festivals Grants program. The program is funded by Columbia Basin Trust and administered by the West Kootenay Regional Arts Council.
The funding helps presenters, performers, artists, residents and volunteers deliver festivals that bring communities together, showcase local talent and support local economies.
“Each year, our communities are shaped and invigorated by these seasonal gatherings,” said Justine Cohen, Senior Manager, Delivery of Benefits with Columbia Basin Trust. “Whether it’s a local outdoor concert series or a regional arts festival, these events contribute to the vibrancy of our communities by bringing people together, celebrating local creativity and showcasing what makes the Basin a welcoming place to live and visit.”
