Iconic Canadian bike brand Rocky Mountain Bikes has announced a new chapter in its 40+ year history, with ownership now in the hands of four Canadian entrepreneurs under the newly formed Chaos Sports Inc. The transition signals stability, continuity, and exciting growth for the brand—and for its retail partners, including Fernie’s own Gearhub Sports.
The news comes as a welcome boost for Gearhub, one of Rocky Mountain’s most prominent dealers in B.C., where Rocky bikes are deeply woven into Fernie’s trail culture. With the new owners pledging to stay true to the company’s North Shore roots, while also bringing fresh energy and expertise, the future looks bright for riders and retailers alike.
“We’re excited to see Rocky Mountain reaffirming its Canadian roots and investing in its future,” said Mark Hall, Gearhub Sports GM. “For a community like Fernie, where trail riding is a lifestyle, Rocky’s commitment to innovation and quality means we can keep delivering the bikes our customers love.”

The new ownership group includes seasoned business leaders and outdoor industry veterans, including key players from Maui Bikes, a Quebec-based electric bike company. Their stated goal is to grow Rocky Mountain without changing what makes it great—a commitment that includes keeping customer service, warranty support, and component availability intact.
As the company relaunches its R&D operations in North Vancouver, Rocky Mountain says it will continue to draw inspiration from the terrain that built its reputation. The brand’s long-standing ties to British Columbia’s trail systems remain central to its identity.
“Rocky Mountain is more than just a name—it’s a mindset, a culture, a way of experiencing the ride,” said new co-owner Patrick St-Denis. “We’re stepping in with humility, energy, and determination. Our goal is clear: to honour what has made Rocky strong for over 40 years and to open a new chapter of growth.”
Fernie’s world-class trail network, passionate riding community, and long season have made it a natural home for Rocky Mountain bikes. Gearhub Sports has played a key role in connecting riders to the brand’s popular models, including the Altitude, Element, Instinct, and Slayer.
With Rocky’s future now secured and reinvigorated, Gearhub expects strong demand heading into the summer riding season.
“Our customers care about quality, performance, and riding local—and that’s exactly what Rocky delivers,” Hall added. “This new chapter just reinforces why we’re proud to carry their bikes”
