2. Rumble in the Rockies
Fernie Old School Boxing Club is presenting an evening of amateur boxing at the Fernie Memorial Arena. The matches will feature Elk Valley’s top boxers, juniors and seniors across all weight divisions. Head down Saturday night to support the homegrown talent.

3. Hit the Rapids
Whitewater rafting is a thrilling experience that people of all ages can enjoy. Full day trips are offered on the scenic Elk Canyon and Bull River and typically run till late September. For the more adventurous, try out an inflatable kayak trip, which are offered in half and full day excursions.

4. Adult/Junior Open at Fernie Golf & Country Club
A fun opportunity for adults and juniors to play together on the course. With a competitive 18 hole flight and beginner 9 hole flight, there’s something for everyone to take part. After golfing for the better part of the day, head to the Clubhouse Restaurant for dinner and prizes.

Dining: Island Lake Lodge
On its opening weekend, take the scenic drive up to Island Lake Lodge for breakfast, lunch or dinner. In the afternoon, enjoy a more laid back experience on the Bear Patio. Dinner is the time to wine and fine-dine in the Ancient Timbers Dining Room, with meals inspired by international influences. On Monday’s the restaurant offers a Date Night special: two entrees, an appetizer or dessert to share and 2 glasses of wine for $75. There are also weekly Wine Tasting specials every Wednesday.

Community: Wildsight
Wildsight is an organization aimed at conserving the natural beauty we are so lucky to have at our doorstep. It protects biodiversity, promotes sustainability and works to improve our natural environment. Main areas of focus are the southern Canadian Rocky Mountains, the upper Columbia River Valley and the Columbia Mountains. The current programs span conservation of land, water, air, wildlife, vegetation etc. Becoming a member is accessible through the website along with making donations and sign-up for email updates.
