This long weekend in Fernie, take part in the many annual local favourite summer events.
1. Wam Bam Dirt Jump Jam
Saturday night, the Fernie Dirt Jump Park will be the place to be. Riders from beginner to pro will be flying through the air for your enjoyment. Cheer on the stunt riders as they perform amazing tricks on the jumps. Voted the best Sporting Event in 2013, this is a don’t miss event!

2. Summer Socials
This week marks the last of the summer socials. The Wednesday Night Concert Series will feature Nick Faye and Megan Nash, with a wrap-up from JayRay. Sunday is the Fernie Rotary Club Corn Fest which will be serving up a delicious Taber corn roast. Come down for an afternoon of family-friendly fun.

3. Art Events
Thursday marks the opening reception of the newest exhibit at the Arts Station. Barking Daisy Luthiery by Kim Kennedy is next in the gallery, presenting an array of stringed instruments that can be played at the reception. Also on Thursday is an artist demonstration by Pam Ciupa on the City Hall Lawn.

4. Fernie Demolition Derby
An event in Fernie that has continued for over 40 years. Every labor-day weekend, the Fernie’s Lion’s Club presents the Demolition Derby, this year on 1800 Railway Ave across from the Fernie Golf Course. An action-packed afteroon.

5. Legendary BC Summer Cup and Fernie Ultra 80km race
Fernie Alpine Resort presents the Legendary Summer BC cup, with race inspection and training rides on Saturday and the race on Sunday. Watch from the bottom of Timber Chair where event gardens and BBQ will be provided. Volunteers are also still needed for this event! – contact events@skifernie.com for more information. A six leg race spanning approximately 80km, The Fernie Ultra takes runners on a beautiful and challenging route in the surrounding area. The race can be completed solo or in teams of up to 6, with hour long checkpoints.
