Snowfall has once again arrived in the Elk Valley and this is a reminder to please slow down. With the coming snow accumulation people are encouraged to drive to the road conditions.
Remaining safe on our winter roads is a joint responsibility. Road maintenance is important however the driver is ultimately responsible for the safety of passengers and others.
Pacific Coastal Airlines is pleased to announce the addition of new, non-stop Saturday service between Cranbrook and Kelowna beginning Saturday, September 8, 2018.
This will end Fernie’s only public transportation service connecting with other communities. It also ends Fernie’s only the next day parcel business that many businesses rely on.
On Wednesday, June 20, the first WestJet flight from Calgary into the Canadian Rockies International Airport landed just after 11am. YXC is a one hour drive from Fernie and is our nearest airport.
We in Fernie are very lucky to have such a dedicated team of firefighters, coordinators, and helicopter pilots. We thank you for working so hard to keep our valley fire free.
In the interest of public safety, effective at noon Pacific Time on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, all Crown land within the Rocky Mountain Natural Resource District is closed to public access.
