A Snowfall Warning for Fernie has been issued by Environment Canada.
Accumulations of 10 to 15 cm are forecast however locally 20 cm is possible. The temperature is low near -5, rising to near -1 after midnight.
An approaching Pacific frontal system will track inland thursday and stall across the southern interior tonight. Heavy snow will begin this evening before changing to rain at lower elevations beginning Friday morning.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with the changing road conditions. Visibility and conditions may suddenly changed at times in heavy snow.
Be aware that the avalanche hazard will increase with this weather. Be sure to check the hazard at avalanche.ca before heading into the backcountry.
