The Fernie Heritage Trust Society recently had reason to celebrate as they received a generous donation from the Fernie Brewing Company (FBC) through their “Cheers to Charity” program.
On Monday, January 8, 2024, Lindsay Ranson, FBC’s Social Media Specialist and Marketing Coordinator, presented the Society with a substantial donation, symbolized by a ceremonial oversized check.
The “Cheers to Charity” program has been a part of FBC’s community engagement efforts since December 2013, aimed at giving back to their local community. Ranson explained, “In the FBC Tasting Room, patrons can savor four 5oz samples of our brews while supporting a noble cause. The profits generated from our sample flights are directed to the chosen beneficiary.”
When asked about the criteria for selecting recipients, Ranson stated, “Our Cheers to Charity funds have benefitted organizations across the Elk Valley, with a focus on supporting local community initiatives, lifestyle, arts, and culture. The funding is specifically directed towards programs that rely on external support to operate effectively.” She went on to share their excitement about having the Fernie Heritage Trust Society as the recipient from October 1 to December 31, 2023, saying, “Through the sale of sample flights in our Tasting Room and generous customer donations, we were able to raise an impressive $2,963.50 for the Society. This financial contribution will aid them in their mission to preserve the historic Knox United Church building and transform it into a versatile community space. Since its inception, our Cheers to Charity program has raised over $221,000.”
