Two local organizations recently received $5,125.00 to further the great work they are doing in the Elk Valley.

The members of 100 Women Who Care Fernie (100WWCFernie) came together June 1st for their first Giving Event of 2023, collectively donating $10,250.00 and through a member nomination and voting process, selected two local organizations to split the funds – Wildsight Elk Valley and Senior Citizens Club of Fernie and District.

This sold-out event was the second in-person event since the organizations virtual launch in Dec. 2020. Local businesses SOAR Studios, The Castle on 1st, Lush Kootenay, Pastryland, Patti’s Party Tent Rentals, Mckenzie Jespersen Photography and Stemhouse helped to make the evening a night to remember.

“Fernie Seniors Centre is thrilled to be a recipient of funding through 100 Women Who Care Fernie. This funding will help us to install universal accessibility in the Centre’s washroom facilities, allowing for safe and dignified access for older residents. 100 Women Who Care Fernie is such an asset to Fernie and we are so appreciative of the members generosity.” Said Courtney Baker, Administrator – Senior Citizens Club of Fernie and District.

Since it’s inaugural event in December 2020, members have gathered to support 6 Giving Events, have collectively donated $56,235.00, and distributed 100% of the funds to 13 local organizations. Members of 100 Women Who Care Fernie meet twice a year to open their cheque books and hearts to support local grassroots organizations delivering valuable services and support to those living in the Elk Valley.

Registration for the November 2, 2023 Giving Event is open, to learn more go to www.100wwcfernie.ca.
