The Fernie Ghostriders Junior A Hockey Club is thrilled to announce the appointment of Chad Scharff as the new Head Coach and General Manager. Chad brings a wealth of elite hockey coaching experience to the team, having been involved with Hockey Alberta and Hockey Canada. His professional background includes working with the Edmonton Oilers and the Vancouver Giants, showcasing a diverse range of expertise that promises to be invaluable to the Ghostriders.

Chad’s impressive resume is backed by his time as a player with the Vancouver Giants, where he was part of the team that won the Memorial Cup Championship. He was also honored with the team’s Humanitarian Award, reflecting his commitment both on and off the ice.

Chad will be relocating to Fernie with his wife, Tracy, and their two daughters, Brooklyn and Kennedy. The Scharff family is excited to make Fernie their new home and to become active members of the community.

The Fernie Ghostriders warmly welcome Chad and his family to our hockey family and are eager to kick off the upcoming season under his leadership.

In addition, the Fernie Ghostriders would like to extend their gratitude to former Head Coach Ty Valin for his dedication and hard work over the past three seasons. Ty’s leadership led the team to the League final round last season, and his contributions have been instrumental in shaping the team’s competitive spirit. We wish Ty and his family all the best in their future endeavors.

With the season on the horizon, the Ghostriders are poised for an exciting year under Chad Scharff’s guidance. The team looks forward to building on its successes and delivering thrilling hockey moments to the Fernie community.
