Congratulations to the Fernie Nordic Society on their first ever podium finishes at the National Championships!

Ella Fuller skied an outstanding bronze medal race in the U16-5km skate event and finishing 4th in the U18-5 km skate event was our very own Louison Dubief! Ella continued to win another bronze in the 7.5k, with Louison coming a very respectable 4th again in U18.

That’s two podium finishes for Ella and Fernie Nordic at the national level. Ella is also coming home as the overall aggregate winner for 2009 girls! Congratulations Ella!

It takes a community to support high performing athletes. Thank you to our Fernie Nordic Racers head coach, Johnny Shaw, for his expertise & heartfelt support guiding these athletes to their full potential. Thank you to the volunteer waxing team & most importantly to the parents & families supporting not only their own athletes but all of those on the team.

And lastly, congratulations to the BC team on winning the overall aggregate for the provincial teams. BC was crowned the Divisional Champion at the 2024 National Championships, beating Quebec on their home turf. This is only the 2nd time in history that BC has won, now the 2nd time in the past 3 years.

Nine BC clubs contributed to the podium results, including:
– Black Jack Cross Country Ski Club
Fernie Nordic Society
– Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Club
– Kimberley Nordic Club
– Nelson Nordic Ski Club
– Revelstoke Nordic Ski Club
– Strathcona Nordic Ski Club
– Telemark Nordic Club
– Williams Lake Cross Country Ski Club

This is a very exciting time for the nordic community, Fernie and BC! Feeling inspired and generous? Donate to Fernie’s fundraiser for kids ski equipment and get a tax receipt!
