One of Santa’s Elves has arrived in Fernie BC and is fascinating the community by appearing in a different location every day.
The life-sized-elf was first seen on the morning of the 1st of December perching on the decommissioned chairlift that stands outside local eatery The Bridge Bistro alongside highway 3.
Similar to the Elf on the Shelf phenomenon, since then, the elf has appeared in different locations around the community every morning and peering from the roof of the Isabella Dicken Elementary School and paying a visit to the Fernie Academy. At the end of every day, the elf mysteriously disappears only to pop up in another location the following morning!
The elf has sparked intrigue from all ages and a wave of social media activity from The Fernie Elf’s Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts.
“The Fernie Elf” appears to be on a mission from Santa to feed back to his naughty or nice list in the run up to Christmas.
Mary Giuliano, Mayor of The City of Fernie said: “It is a total surprise, we just don’t know where the elf came from but he is helping us all gear up for the holi-days. I am keeping my eyes open every day to see where he will show up next!”
Santa Claus himself was unavailable for comment but a spokesperson from his HQ at The North Pole said; “We can’t give you the precise details of the Elf’s mission but we can tell you that he was sent to help the community gear up for Christmas following a difficult period. Of course he will be updating the naughty and nice lists in real time via his Elf-interface linked to our cloud computers. It’s too early to say for sure but it looks like the vast majority of Fernie is on the nice list.”
