The B.C. government has closed all parks and is restricting camping and motorized recreation throughout the entire Koocanusa Recreation Strategy area this spring and summer.

Total snowfall accumulations are expected to be around 20 to 30 cm with the highest amounts near Fernie. The heavy snow will taper off Saturday night.

The very narrow and pedestrian unfriendly bridge over Lizard Creek is being replaced and greatly improved upon.

Remaining safe on our winter roads is a joint responsibility. Road maintenance is important however the driver is ultimately responsible for the safety of passengers and others.

The winter season was full of violent and sometimes deadly crashes and the government has announced new funding in an attempt to make our roads safer.
