Fernie’s annual winter carnival, the 40th Griz Days Winter Festival, is happening this March 3 to 5th. This year is the 40th celebrating the legendary Griz with many amazing activities and events planned than ever. Participate in the friendly, fun competitions, attend the many events, or simple join-in by watching all the action. It will be a great celebration for everyboby!

Griz Days is a true Fernie-wide event, happening at locations across town and at Fernie Alpine Resort. The Griz is the central character for the weekend’s event, read about how this mountain man came to be Fernie’s mascot and the symbol of winter.

Griz Days welcomes visitors and locals for the biggest, snowiest 40th-anniversary celebrations. This years Highlights include:

Griz Days Pub Crawl

Gather your fun buddies head out on a Grizly Pub Crawl with nine stops. Good times!

Griz Days Parade
Grab your family and friends for the popular Griz Days Parade! Historic Downtown Fernie comes alive with this fun attraction.

Fireworks
As night decends and Station Square is bustling with activities and entertainment get ready for the fireworks show.

Country Stomp IIl
A fundraising stomper of a good time with the Ken McCoy Band. Food vendors, DJ and line dancing are part of the fun. A great way to kick off Griz Days. $25/person.

Extreme Griz Event – Are you the new Griz?
Are you the next Extreme Griz? Join the competition for bragging rights or just watch the fun! Truck pull, log carry, axe throw, pancake eating & more!

Lumberjack Show – Two shows on Saturday at 4pm and 7pm!
The famous Rocky Mountain Lumberjack Show will be in Fernie for Griz Days again this year!

Canada 150 Playlist

In conjunction with Canada’s 150 birthday
this event celebrates 150 new sports and activities that define our country! 2nd Ave 10-4pm FREE!

Yukon Blonde live on stage!
This indie rock band from Kelowna is a Fernie favourite! Join the dance party, beverage gardens and fun at Station Square starting at 8pm. FREE!

Raging Elk Dummy Downhill
Watch as hand built dummies on skis hurl through the air to win top prize at this great event. Enter your dummy or just watch the action!

Make sure to pick up your Griz Pin at locations around town for $2.50. Every pin is worth one entry into the contest to win $1000! Don’t be seen without your pin or you might be thrown in the Griz Jail along with Fernie’s Most Wanted!
