Fernie Ghostriders

The Fernie Ghostriders return home for two games this weekend after collecting five of a possible eight points over their last four BCHC games, including a commanding 10-2 victory in Quesnel and a shootout loss against one of the league’s top teams in Williams Lake.

The Riders continue to demonstrate offensive depth and resilience as they work through injuries and a demanding early-season schedule.

Ghostriders Split Home Games Against Kamloops and Grand Forks

Fernie fell 5-3 to the Kamloops Storm on October 23 despite outshooting the visitors 35-29. The Riders had a goal disallowed and struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities in a closely contested game.

Carter Singleton scored on the power play following an impressive end-to-end rush and pass by Boston Logan, while newcomer Ryder McAslan made an immediate impact in his first game.

The Ghostriders rebounded two nights later with a convincing 6-1 victory over the Grand Forks Border Bruins.

After an evenly played opening period, Fernie took control, outshooting Grand Forks 43-14 over the final two periods.

Defenceman Kellen Hale scored his first goal of the season, which stood as the game-winner, while Jackson Roberts returned from injury with a goal and an assist.

Veteran defenceman Stephen Jones also celebrated his 100th game with the Ghostriders.

Ghostriders Score Ten in Quesnel

The Ghostriders headed north for their next two games, travelling more than 2,000 kilometres to face the Quesnel River Rush and Williams Lake Mustangs.

Fernie opened the road trip with a dominant 10-2 victory over Quesnel on October 30.

Head coach Chad Scharff described the win as one of the team’s most complete performances of the season, praising the players’ pace, confidence and commitment to playing as a unit.

The following night, Fernie faced a much tougher challenge against the Williams Lake Mustangs, one of the BCHC’s leading teams.

Ryder McAslan, Gavin Harty and Max Boyle scored for Fernie, which carried a 3-2 lead into the final minute of regulation.

Williams Lake tied the game with just 43 seconds remaining before claiming a 4-3 shootout victory.

Goaltender Leo den Besten delivered a strong performance, helping the Ghostriders secure an important road point against a formidable opponent.

Milestones on the Road

The northern trip included several individual milestones.

Ty Davis, Ryder McAslan and Gavin Harty recorded their first BCHC goals, while 2010-born Nixon McDonald made his league debut. Head coach Chad Scharff also reached his 100th game behind the Ghostriders bench.
