ParticipantIt is no longer in Fernie, but it is still for sale. I moved to Montana, and due to immigration I cannot come back to Canada for a few months, but would be able to meet anyone in Eureka to sell it.
thank you.lindsaydfallon
ParticipantThe ski hill is still saying that it’s October 17th and 18th. So that’s when they’re planning on showing up, as far as I know

ParticipantI completely agree! I don’t live in west Fernie, but when my dog went missing last month and I spent every waking hour looking for her, I noticed at least 5 or 6 dogs just roaming around West Fernie every time I drove through there. This is not only irriating to the people that live there and have to clean up someone else’s mess, it is dangerous. The dogs could get hurt or run over, cause accidents, hurt someone if they attack, not to mention the fact that since there are so many dogs roaming free in the area when I was missing mine no one even noticed because it’s "just another dog".
It’s really irresponsible and actually VERY mean for the amazing animals to be left to their own devices and not kept in a yard or a house. PLEASE keep your animals safe and in their own yard.December 31, 2008 at 4:25 am in reply to: Dear Cindy Corrigan: "I’m so sorry" is much more appropriate #16697lindsaydfallon
ParticipantI agree that she should have shown at least an attempt at compassion, but she also stated the truth. Most of these guys lived their entire lives here in the valley and probably knew that the conditions were dangerous but went anyway (I mean, with all the fresh powder is’s hard to resist!). I really feel for their families, and especially for the 3 that made it out, but had to leave the others behind due to the severity of the danger. As the mayor, she should have been a bit (ok a LOT) more sympathetic, but I think this has been a huge reality check for the rest of the valley that we are not immune to danger and avalanches just because we are young or because we think it won’t happen to us.
I’m truely sad about what happened and I wish that it hadn’t happened, but we all need to take a step back and second guess some of our own decisions about what we do this winter. Let’s play hard, but play safe.lindsaydfallon
ParticipantMy boyfriend had Rogers when we moved here and it worked fine IN town, but as soon as he got on the hiway to my house (the ski hill) or 5 minutes towards Sparwood, he woul dhave absolutely NO service until Cranbrook or the Pass. I finally convinced him to go with someone else. He has Telus and alwasy has service, and I have always used Bell and never had less than 4 bars anywhere in this valley.

ParticipantElk valley job seekers is a good place to start looking. Also, they are saying there is a worker shortage this year…. so there are more jobs than there are people. This probably has to do with the housing shortage. But it’s easy to find wokr in town if you’re not picky and only willing to work in a certain position.
