Electoral Area A Director Thomas McDonald announced Tuesday night that he plans to seek re-election in the fall local government election during the Area A Information Meeting and Volunteer of the Year Celebration at the Hosmer Community Hall.
The news was warmly received by those attending the meeting, reflecting strong support for McDonald’s decision to run again.
“Serving Electoral Area A has been a privilege, and I’m grateful for the trust residents have placed in me,” says McDonald. “This area is facing important decisions around growth, infrastructure, public safety and protecting the rural character that makes our communities special. I plan to seek re-election because I want to continue doing the work, listening to residents and helping make sure Area A has a strong voice at the regional district table.”
The June 23 meeting included an update from McDonald, recognition of the Electoral Area A Volunteer of the Year, and an open-house format with information on the Accessory Dwelling Unit planning process, the Hosmer Fire Hall and the Five-Year Financial Plan.
McDonald was first elected as Electoral Area A Director in 2022. Since then, Area A has continued to face growth, infrastructure and community planning issues across the rural Elk Valley.
The fall election will determine who represents Electoral Area A for the next four-year term.
