HOW DOES IT WORK?
Local businesses offer special deals to Think Local First cardholders by listing their events, sales and special offers on the WWW.THINKLOCALFERNIE.CA website. Customers purchase Think Local First cards to access special deals only available to Think Local First cardholders. Businesses get a new form of advertising with a direct line into cardholders homes with the monthly Think Local First e-newsletter. Cardholders get great deals. Everybody wins!
WHAT SHOULD I OFFER?
This could be a great way to promote special offers, inform customers about new products, help you move last seasons stock or just keeping the public aware of what you have on sale at your business. What a brilliant way to stay in the public eye. You post as many promotion listings online as you want and update your them as often or as little as you want. You can set expiration dates for your offers if you want.
WHEN DOES IT HAPPEN?
Now! Be sure to sign up before November 30th to ensure you can access all the special offers and advertising available (and enjoy the special launch party). Cards will be available to the public for sale the second week in December (beginning Dec. 9th). Although you can purchase your Think Local First membership any time of the year, by purchasing before November 30th, you receive a $20 discount so the cost is just $100. Also, by registering by this date you will have access to our special wine and cheese launch on the 8th of December.
WHAT ABOUT THE CARDS?
For only $10 customers can purchase the Think Local First card plus recyclable cotton Think Local First bag, or purchase just the Think Local First card for $5. The credit card size recycled plastic card can slip easily into a wallet. It also comes with a cut out key fob option that can attach to a key ring. Customers use these cards to identify themselves as a Think Local First cardholder. This will allow them to access the special promotions that you have listed on the website.
The Think Local First cards will be available to purchase at the Fernie Museum in the second week of December following the special launch party for participating businesses. WHO IS MAKING THIS HAPPEN?
Advocates for Local Living (ALL) is a volunteer-run, Wildsight project aimed to support and inspire a thriving sustainable Fernie community. You may be familiar with some of our other projects including: Think Tank Cinema, Fernie Mug Club, Green Drinks, and the FERNS Community Currency project. For the last 5 years, Advocates for Local Living has coordinated the Think Local First project, which featured the Community Coupon book. The new and improved Think Local First Card is a much more sustainable option, with a lot more flexibility for you, the business owner.

Local businesses play a huge role in what makes our community great. The Think Local First program is designed to help protect economic stability, community self-reliance and the unique character of Fernie by raising awareness, community recognition and promoting the support of local businesses.
