The Rotary Club of Fernie is thrilled to announce a generous donation of $18,000 to the East Kootenay Foundation for Health’s ‘A Warm Embrace’ campaign for a Tier 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This significant contribution is made possible through the generosity of attendees at the Rotary’s Feast for a Cause event, showcasing the community’s dedication to supporting essential health services and enhancing the well-being of our region.

The ‘A Warm Embrace’ campaign aims to establish a Tier 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital. The addition of this NICU will provide new specialized equipment and healthcare professionals, allowing more newborns to receive care within the East Kootenay region. This crucial development will help keep care for these newborns and their families in the region, saving new parents and families from long, stressful, and expensive hospital stays away from home.

“We are deeply committed to making a positive impact in our community and supporting the ‘A Warm Embrace’ campaign aligns perfectly with our mission,” said Anita Palmer, President of the Rotary Club of Fernie. “This donation, made possible by the generosity of those who attended our Feast for a Cause event, represents the collective effort and goodwill of our community. We are proud to contribute to such a vital initiative that will touch so many lives.”

The Rotary Club of Fernie has a long-standing history of community service and philanthropy, continually striving to address the needs of the local community through various projects and initiatives. This latest donation is a testament to the Club’s ongoing dedication to fostering a healthier, more supportive environment for everyone in the East Kootenay region.

“We are incredibly grateful for the heartfelt support of The Rotary Club of Fernie and the community of Fernie. Their generous contribution from the Feast for a Cause event. We value their partnership and the community’s unwavering commitment to the well-being of our region,” said Brenna Baker, Executive Director of the East Kootenay Foundation for Health.
