Powder Tuesday was Fernie’s powder-day benchmark until Powder Christmas. Skiers reference Powder Tuesday with a grin and aahhh for how epic it was. Well, that’s history now, Powder Christmas blows powder Tuesday away!
Why does it blow Powder Tuesday away? The defining factor is a week of untracked powder. Yes, a solid week of epic powder days!!
With extremely favourable temperatures hovering around -8C, Fernie received 166cms in seven days, 51cm in 48hrs (that would be 6 feet for you yanks) and the winter is just beginning!
In keeping with Powder Tuesday there have been no crowds—just locals and powder folk from abroad skiing directly onto the lifts with no lineups.
This powder cycle reminds me of the powder cycle that sealed my decision to move to Fernie. And at dinner last evening my good friend Rob said he was going to quit his job and ski for the season. So be advised, Powder Christmas has more that changed peoples reference to the best powder day, it has changed people lives!
So get your shopping finished and quit your jobs, Fernie awaits you arrival. Merry Christmas!!
