Fernie local Joy Attalla became the Canadian Downhill Junior National Champion on home turf this weekend! Joy won the U17 Women Canadian Downhill Championships at Fernie Alpine Resort yesterday and now will represent Canada at the World Championships in Scotland.

Joy expressed her excitement in becoming the 2023 Jr National Champion in her hometown and commented, “Honestly can’t even express how special this was. Raced my first ever DH race here so to take the win yesterday was just unreal. Being surrounded by all of my friends and my whole family…something I’ll remember forever. A huge huge thank you to @dunbarcycles @corsacycles @cmacarthur87 and the whole team you guys are seriously awesome and such a great crew to share this with. Still haven’t stopped smiling!”

For the first time in history, the 2023 UCI Cycling Worlds will bring 13 UCI World Championships together in one place at the same time. The biggest cycling event ever, will see the world’s greatest riders get together in Glasgow and across Scotland to compete at the highest level, make history, and show the world the power of the bike.

Congratulations Joy on your win and best wishes in Scotland!
