This week features the Fernie Enduro bike race as well as a mix of arts, culture and community events.
1. Fernie Enduro
One of Fernie’s most fun bike events, the Enduro will take place in the Cedar Valley from the lower Island Lake parking lot. The decents include Verboten, Slunt/Brokenbak and Project 9 for 21.3 kms of riding. Registration will take place at Park Place Lodge from 5pm – 8pm on Friday, late package pick-up will be at the start location from 8 – 8:30am. Head down to the Fernie Golf and Country Club after for celebratory refreshments, banquet and prizing.

2. Live Music
Don’t miss Candace Sand this weekend at The Loaf. Described as a mix between Natasha Bedingfield and Alicia Keys, Candace’s optimistic lyrics and powerful vocal performance will be sure to impress. Folk band Fish and Bird are also the feature of this week’s Wednesday Night Summer Concert Series. Sunday’s Summer Social features “Fernie’s Got Fashion” hosted by The Ghost Rider Trading Company.

3. Wine Club Event
The Fernie Wine Club is hosting an evening of entertainment, delicious food and, of course, great wine. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at Infinitea prior to the event.

4. Art Demonstration
Clawhammer Press hosts the first of the series where the community can witness painting demonstrations by Fernie’s most renowned painters. This week features Laura Nelson, whose paintings feature the colorful lifestyle, community and landscape in Fernie.

5. Historical Plaque Unveiling Event
On Friday, Fernie will take part in a national “wave” of plaque unveilings at Dogwood Park. The event is a call for attention to the injustice faced by Ukrainians and other Europeans in the Great War. The Fernie/Morrissey camp was one of 24 set up during the time.
