Park Place Lodge

CheapHotels.org has compiled a list of the most expensive ski resorts in North America. To calculate their list they compared all major ski resorts in the USA and Canada based on the cost of their lodging during the month of February.

“A resort in Utah has claimed the top spot on a new survey from CheapHotels.org. Located in Utah’s Park City, Deer Valley has earned the title of North America’s most expensive ski resort. In coming up with the rankings, the survey looked at all important ski resorts in the USA and Canada. Then, using the month of February as its comparison point, the survey ranked the resorts according to their lodging cost.

An overnight stay at the Deer Valley Resort will cost ski lovers $395 per night this February. As high as that figure sounds, it will only secure them the most affordable double room. Coming in second on the survey is another Utah resort, the Snowbird. An average per-night rate of $312 secured it the number two spot. Rounding out the top three is a Colorado ski resort, Beaver Creek. There, overnighters can expect to pay a minimum of $289 nightly for a double room.”

Fernie sits just below Whistler and Silver Star, with Kicking Horse listed as Canada’s most expensive. It begs me to ask, “how did Lake Louise, Big White and Revelstoke avoid being on this list”? As always, the data is only as good as the source and who knows how accurate a travel geek in Houston Texas can be. And the survey includes only those accommodations listed with the Expedia group, about half of Fernie’s accommodations.

The following table lists North America’s 20 most expensive ski resorts. The rates indicated reflect the average price for the most affordable double room at each respective resort during this upcoming February.
