Jose Rios and his family lost their Fernie home last week due to a gas explosion. City officials commented that Fernie Fire and Emergency Services stabilized the site and extinguished the flames, saving the neighbouring homes. One resident was home at the time and fortunately managed to evacuate. The family unflortunatly lost both their loved pets.
Mr Rios has written this message for the people of Fernie;
“Good afternoon, my name is Jose and together with my wife Alma and my kid Elian we moved a couple of months ago to Fernie, to work as manager of Tim Hortons. We are the family that the house exploded last Wednesday. We want to do this post to say THANK YOU to the fernie community for the love that you have been showing us during this hard time.
My wife Alma has been a totally miracle.

Special thanks to Andrea Tatoiu-Chorney Chris Chorney & Buddhi Adhikari & Subita Shrestha Adhikari that went beyond of employer/employee relationship and did all the way from Calgary and leave all their responsibilities in Calgary and come here to make sure my family is ok and help us out during this hard times.
Also, thank you for all the kindness word that we have been receiving about our lost ( our dog and cat that didn’t make it ) and now they are in heaven watching after us.
Catrina and Pelusa we gonna miss you forever.
