Fernie is showcasing the buzzing mountain bike enduro format in the Canadian Rockies with the Wild Mountain Fernie Enduro on June 30, 2013.
An Enduro is a style of competition that bears a curious resemblance to what most of us actually enjoy doing on a bike; namely, making it up the hills in a respectable fashion and then trying to destroy our buddies’ egos on the descents.

Discover what the buzz is about! The Wild Mountain Fernie Enduro will feature a pure format, 39 km route with four timed technical descents. Riders will be ranked in the enduro results – with only the descents timed, and for those who ask – a time for the entire 38.7km course. With four descents totaling 1,822m, the Fernie Enduro will offer a World Class Enduro experience. The route will feature four epic Fernie descents:
1. Verboten
2. Project 9
3. Red Sonya
4. Roots Hyper Extension
Overall: 38.7 km, 1765m climbing, 1822m descents
The Wild Mountain Fernie Enduro will run on Sunday, June 30th and will follow the Fernie Ultra and Relay trail running event, which runs on June 29th as part of the Wild Mountain Fernie Ultra & Enduro weekend. Racers will be treated to a premier event starting at Fernie Alpine Resort and ending at the Arts Station in historic downtown of Fernie. Enjoy beautiful and challenging bike trails, epic downhills, professional timing, an athlete pint glass, and a holiday Monday in Fernie with fun Canada Day activities.
