This January, Fernie Alpine Resort is launching the January Jam Video Contest, designed to showcase the skills and creativity of its rail park riders. The month-long January Jam video contest invites skiers and snowboarders of all levels to showcase their best tricks and edits for a chance to win weekly and grand prizes.
Participants are encouraged to film their clips in Fernie Alpine Resort’s Rail Parks, with submissions accepted via Instagram. Riders should tag Fernie Alpine Resort and use the hashtag #FARJanuaryJam to enter. The contest includes multiple categories to cater to both individuals and groups, offering plenty of opportunities for participants to get involved and win.
How It Works
Videos must be filmed exclusively in Fernie Alpine Resort Rail Parks. While B-roll or mountain footage can be included, only tricks performed in the Rail Parks will be judged.
Submissions can include entries for both “Best Full Video” and “Best Trick” categories in a single post. Posts should clearly label the slides (e.g., Slide 1: Full Video, Slide 2: Best Trick).
Multiple entries are allowed, so riders can submit various tricks or edits to increase their chances of winning.
Categories and Judging
Weekly Pick: A standout clip selected each week based on what excites the resort staff the most. Weekly winners will be announced on January 11, 18, 25, and February 1.
Best Full Video: Judged on criteria such as trick selection, difficulty, and editing style. Videos should feature multiple tricks and showcase creativity and technical skills.
Best Trick: Focused solely on the best single trick, where filming or editing quality is not a factor.
Staff Pick: A subjective category rewarding the submission that most inspires or excites the team. This could include anything from a rider overcoming a challenge to a unique filming angle or an impressive trick.
Prize Details
Weekly Picks: Prizes awarded each week for the staff’s favorite submission.
Grand Prizes: Awards for “Best Full Video,” “Best Trick,” and “Staff Pick” will be presented at the end of January.
This contest is open to all skill levels, and group submissions are encouraged for all categories except “Best Trick.” Whether riding solo or with a crew, participants are invited to get creative, push their limits, and share their passion for park riding.
