Columbia Basin Trust will be hosting its annual general meeting and community barbeque in Fernie on September 21. Both events are open to the public.

The BC Association of Farmers’ Markets (BCAFM) is launching a new online tool connecting locals and tourists in the Kootenay Rockies & Columbia Basin region to markets and farmers offering local, in season foods.

At the town hall public meeting Jeri Mitchell was described as a “bright star” in the Elk Valley was honoured.

Four students from around the Basin will receive a Neil Muth Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was established in 2017 by the Muth family and Columbia Basin Trust.

Saturday June 23 saw the Fernie Library Gala fundraiser organized and presented by the Friends of the Fernie Heritage Library.

There were 16 volunteers canvassing the businesses of Fernie on June 13 for Fernie’s first Business Walk.

Farmers’ markets located in Fernie, Elkford, Rossland, Trail and Windermere will join the program in 2018.

Fernie Disability Awareness Night night was held at the Park Place Lodge this year and it was a lovely evening of fellowship, learning and presentations.
