The amazing Fernie Secondary Rainbow Club is continuing to meet every Wednesday at noon (via Zoom) to chat and check in on each other. Danielle, teacher facilitator, stays for a bit and then leaves the meeting and allows the youth to connect with each other.

All youth, regardless of which Elk Valley community they live in, are encouraged to participate in these inclusive and friendly weekly meetings.

If you are interested in finding out more or would like to participate in a meeting please contact Danielle at Danielle.gibson@sd5.bc.ca.

The Rainbow Club is spearheaded by Fernie Secondary students and staff to promote inclusion and reduce discrimination for everyone regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.

Get ready for June it’s Pride Month: the time of year when the LGBTQ community comes together to proudly and collectively make memes.

Memes have historically played a special role in the LGBTQ community. Queer and trans folks, particularly those located in rural areas, can participate in LGBTQ cultural life and humor regardless of their geographical location. Get on it and have fun!
