The popular Ancient Cottonwood Trail is not currently safe for walking due to accumulated debris both on the ground and in the canopy following a wind storm.
Fernie’s biking and hiking trails are mostly open and riding well. The weather has worked wonders in removing our above average snowpack quicker than last season.
We in Fernie are very lucky to have such a dedicated team of firefighters, coordinators, and helicopter pilots. We thank you for working so hard to keep our valley fire free.

Fernie’s Mountain Lakes Trail was officially renamed Heiko’s Trail this August to celebrate the life of one of Fernie’s renowned residents, Heiko Socher.
