100 Women Who Care Fernie

Fernie Adaptive Snowsports – Thorna Lawrence & Kaliegh Thomson

Since its launch in 2020, 100 Women Who Care Fernie has made a remarkable impact on the community, raising over $84,000 to support local organizations and causes close to home. Through nine Giving Events, this dedicated group of women has empowered initiatives that strengthen Fernie and the surrounding Elk Valley.

The Giving Events are built around a simple but powerful concept: each member donates $100, nominates a local cause, and six nominations are randomly selected for presentation at the event. After hearing the pitches, members vote for their top two choices, with the two organizations receiving the most votes sharing the funds raised.

At the most recent event on November 7, the group raised $10,412, which was shared among three deserving causes: Triangle Women’s Institute, Elk Valley Family Society – Chrysalis House, and Fernie Adaptive Snowsports. With two organizations tying for second place, these funds will go toward helping each group continue their invaluable work in the community.

This event was made even more special through the support of local businesses, including Castle on 1st, Fernie Catering Co., Mountain Luxe Services & Events, Patti’s Party Tent Rentals, SOAR Studios, and Gabbi Escobar Film & Digital Photography.

100 Women Who Care Fernie is more than a fundraising group—it’s a community movement creating a ripple effect of generosity and connection. Each Giving Event is an opportunity for people to come together, show their support, and make a meaningful difference in Fernie.
