EVR Mine Rescue Teams

EVR mine rescue teams delivered an exceptional performance at the 68th annual B.C. Provincial Mine Rescue and First Aid Competition, with Line Creek Operations placing first overall in both Surface Mine Rescue and Three-person First Aid.

The annual competition was held May 22–23 in Penticton and brought together 16 teams from across British Columbia. Elk Valley Resources was represented by teams from Line Creek, Greenhills and Elkview, competing in surface and underground mine rescue challenges designed to test essential emergency response skills.

The competition included firefighting, extrication, practical skills, first aid and rope rescue in simulated emergency conditions.

“We are incredibly proud of our mine rescue and first aid team members across our operations and their impressive performance at the B.C. Provincial Mine Rescue and First Aid Competition,” said Mike Carrucan, CEO, EVR. “Our results once again reflect their commitment to excellence in emergency response and ensures that our people and communities can rely on our teams to support them in the event things unfortunately go wrong.”

For the second year in a row, EVR took top honours. Line Creek Operations placed first overall in the Surface Mine Rescue category and first in the Three-person First Aid competition. Greenhills Operations placed second in the Three-person First Aid category.

EVR also earned first-place results in several individual and team categories.

The results highlight the strength of EVR’s emergency response teams and the ongoing importance of mine rescue training across the Elk Valley’s mining operations.
