Fernie’s annual Seedy Saturday seed swap is taking place on Saturday, February 22nd. Seedy Saturdays are hosted by communities all over Canada, bring gardeners together in the midst of our long winter.

There are opportunities to purchase and swap garden seeds, and to learn about seed saving, composting and other garden skills. Most important of all, it is an opportunity to network with other gardeners.

Wildsight Elk Valley’s Community EcoGarden has been hosting seed swap events every winter since 2005. Most seeds offered have come from plants grown in members’ gardens and at the EcoGarden itself.

If you have saved seeds from your garden this year and have some cleaned and ready to share, you can drop them off at the Local store (632 2nd Avenue, Fernie) or bring them to Seedy Saturday.
