Before you hike be sure to read the Patrol’s avalanche report. They are posted at the top of the Bear and White Pass chairs. Given the risk is low to moderate you are relatively safe to travel in the backcountry. You have two options, Fish Bowl or Siberia/ Mongolia. Both of these bowls are acessable by boot hiking and if you need to go further touring gear is recommended. One last thing – never travel alone in the backcountry.

A human interest and inspiring publication for many individuals to enjoy and to learn about our young neighbors is set for 2007. This is an excellent chance for us to showcase the hard work of Fernie?Ç‚Äôs young community. The top 40 have earned the recognition for making Fernie as special as we all brag it is. Business people, professionals and other big thinkers and hard working people of Fernie are to be nominated and celebrated.
