gavitron, what i was trying to say is that competition is good, it makes everybody pull up there socks, and it definately has made the downtown more competative and focussed on customer service..
excuse me about the dominoes comment, i was happy to see it here, and sad to see it go, and yes i realize that even franchises are mostly owned locally, but how could anybody beat the pizza deals that elk valley pizza throws down, and there service is excellent..my comment about dominoes, was meant to be praise for the other local pizza shops…
my comments here may be a little misguided but i have been thinking for awhile about posting positives about service in local shops, not negatives.. and i was trying to point out that there are a lot of shops in town that have wicked good customer service, and that should hopefully be enough to keep people shopping there…
i love that canadian tire is here, i could care less either way about mcdonalds, but i am sure the kids like it, and honestly i just realized yesterday that i hadnt had a tim hortons coffee in over a month!!!didnt even know the prices went up and didnt miss it..
peace out
mokeParticipantstill available
ideal for one person who likes their own private space, will suit two, but it would be tight
mokeParticipantcome on, what has fernie become…
do your voting with your pocket book and your feet my friend, if you dont like canadian tire shop at IGS, if you do not like Mcdonalds, go to a local restaurant..did you notice super pizza chain dominoes shut down but the local pie shops have kept runnin? ….service my friend
i dont know, i have been here 10 years and i can tell you that downtown has come a looong way when customer satisfaction is concerned, istead of harping on the new box stores we should be talking about the great service one recieves downtown..
this is just a start, but here is my list of favourite places to shop because the service is EXCELLENT!!!! and i am sure that i will forget some so please feel freee to add..
IGS
SKI BASE
CHOCOLATE FACTORY
MUG SHOTS, AND FRESHIES
BOARD STIFF
GHOSTRIDER TRADING
BRT
VALLET FAMILY FOOTWEAR
BROWNS MEAT MARKET (yeah beef jerky)
GIVER SHIRT WORKS
THE CENTRALYeah fernie has it’s little problems, but hot damn if this place isnt as close to paradise as one can find..
what fernie has become, i challenge you to tell me where there is a better town to live..
mokeParticipanti just thought that it was time to get this string going again, since it is the season for it, and i can smell the stinky smell of burnin p-tex, and plastic on the horizon.. winter is just around the corner brothers and sisters, lets make this one one to remember…
mokeParticipantStill available…
Will consider renting out per room basis, until sept-oct, 2006
Thanks.
mokeParticipantIf you want to shop go to new york city, unless you are shopping for skis or outdoor gear….!!!!!
mokeParticipantYeah the good ole days,
when every weekend someone would get shit kicked or thrown through the northern window, when people would beat the shit out of you for having the wrong accent.. damn i miss those small minded red neck days….
mokeParticipantHave you ever thought that there is so few juniors in the program because golf stinks. It is a sport for spoiled rich people, the kids are out doing something fun, (or playing video games) not golfing….
it’s that simple, it’s not a conspiracy by the golf and country club
p.s. fernie kicks ass over kelowna
mokeParticipantHey,
I love Fernie, but like everybody else sometimes i get fed up with it and have to get out of the valley…every time without fail, as soon as i hit the first traffic light in Calgary, or wherever….i want to turn around and come back….and no matter where i go or how long i am gone for, i realize that Fernie has got something special that holds people here, and that this is my home…You only have to go anywhere to realize that Fernie is way better than most places to live.
On the other hand, i recently read some information about teen drug use/alcohal use/ sexual activity/and abuse.. and such, and was shocked to find out that the east kootenays leads, or is at the top in almost every single category, yep, the east kootenays is up there with the downtown east side in vancouver, and victoria for almost everything like daily drug use, witness to abuse, sexually transmitted diseases, teen pregnancy…almost every category had the kootenays at or near the top… Now i am not saying that this is a lousy place to raise a kid, on the contrary, i agree with princess, but to all those parents out there, i hope you keep a close eye on your kids, and give them lots of love, kids need their parents to guide them and keep them safe from all the shit that IS out there in our community.. pay attention.. and keep your kids safe.
deano, i am sure this does not really apply to your question, but kinda Fernie is still part rough and tumble mining town, and part mountain vacation paradise..
it kicks ass over anywhere else on the planet….
mokeParticipantDude, you are so right,
Fernie rocks, Banff sucks..
anyone could have told you that..
better luck next time, come to fernie in the summer, thats when you will get to know a couple of locals and will have a blast..
mokeParticipantYo Sparkes,
is the cup half empty or half full in your world…
the season up until now has been fantastic, and we have lots left, yes it could rain today, but does that mean that all those powder days didnt happen?
mokeParticipantOkay Kids,
Looks like you guys did something right…?
The Griz seems to have been lured back to town…?
Ski your face off…!
mokeParticipantDarren.
you back in town?
rock on…
