Be aware that Extra foods often has things with a yellow sticker or a ‘sale’ sign and they are the exact same price as regular. Advertising a sale but still regular price. Just FYI.

I agree. I often go to extra foods and they have one or two tills open and about 10 people in each line. No one calls for help and no one opens up more tills. Also, I have been there dozens of times and they are ‘out’ of something. Something necessary like bananas or lettuce. Worse during ski season, but when there is no produce or the produce they do have is rotten, I get quite frustrated. Also, asking someone where something is located and getting the "i dont know" with a blank stare (Uh…hello….GO ASK SOMEONE THAT DOES KNOW) or being told that they dont carry an item and after searching for it myself, find that they actually DO carry it. This isn’t just an extra foods problem, however, I run into this at a lot of stores. These problems are the manager’s fault in my opinion.

Know how to drive in the winter and bad conditions (sounds simple but many people can’t drive well in bad weather) and have top-notch winter tires. As said above, take #2 if the road report says #22 is bad.

Right. So leave the flathead the way it is. It doesn’t have to be a park to keep the mines out. Everyone thinks that a park is the only option. I too am anti-mines AND anti-park.

I was born here and have lived here for my whole life. Liberal, I wonder how long you’ve lived here? maybe you hang around with those crowds and that is therefore your only impression of Fernie? Drugs are in any town, if you choose to find them. Ferne is a great town and I do admit that it has become very much a tourist attraction, maybe a bit more than some of us would have wanted. I also agree that it is unfortunate that there are so many empty houses that people can afford to own and use 1-2x/year. Fernie is a great place, however, and I wouldn’t leave it for anything.
